日本語で牙 を英語に翻訳する時、その牙を持つ動物によって単語が変わります。例えばライオン、蛇、ネコ、オオカミが持つ牙は「Fangs」となり、ゾウ、セイウチ、イノシシの持つ牙は「Tusks」となります。

ただし、象の牙の呼び方は特別で、加工前の象牙そのものはtusksと呼び、ピアノの鍵盤などに加工された象牙のことはivoryと呼びます。

When you translate the word “牙” from Japanese to English, the resulting word will vary depending on the animal that you are thinking of.  For example, lions, snakes, cats and wolves have fangs.  Elephants, walruses and wild boars have tusks.  If you translate the Japanese word for elephant tusk into English you get the word “ivory”.  However, when the tusks are still connected to an elephant, we do not usually use the word “ivory”.  This word is usually used when we are talking about it as a material used to make things such as piano keys.
