Monterey, California’s most popular feature is the Monterey Bay Aquarium.  The aquarium was formerly a sardine canning factory, however, it has been reconstructed so that much of the premises extend out over the bay.  It boasts the 6th largest tank in the world and one tank is home to the world’s first live kelp forest.  It was also the first aquarium in the world to care for, display and release a live Great White shark back into the wild.  Another notable achievement of the aquarium is its successful surrogate mother program that helps care for orphaned sea otter pups so that they can be released back into the wild.  If you’re planning to study abroad or take a trip, brush up on your English with Bell Rise Gate English School!
