「階段」

日本人の多くは英語で「階段」と言う場合、「stair]と言ったりしますが, 「stair」は単数なので、「段があります」という意味をします。一段以上ある場合、正しい言い方は、「stairs」や「stairway」、「staircase」です。これから正しく使いましょう！

A lot of Japanese people say “stair” when they are speaking English, but this is the singular form of the word and simply means one single stair.  If there is more than one stair, the correct way to say it is “stairs”, “stairway” or “staircase”.  Let’s try using the correct word from now on!
